Healthcare is shifting to a lean, integrated care model with improved collaboration.
This dual access room maximizes floor space with two lockable sliding doors that:
- Simplify patient flow and management
- Enable increased collaboration
- Eliminate obstacles to integration of new technologies
In collaboration with leading architectural firm NBBJ, Midmark highlights key design concepts for a dual access exam room.
- Dual Access
Two doors—one for patient entry and one for caregiver entry—enable safe, clear patient navigation.
The lockable sliding doors maximize floor space and allow for easy transitions in and out of the room. For additional privacy, the caregiver door can be covered on the inside by a curtain.
- Consultation Zone
In this flexible access room, the consultation zone is easily accessible from both entrances and includes seating and a mobile work surface to exchange information. A large display enables viewing of patient information during care and allows patient viewing of educational information.
A separate care team work area is free of patient interruption.
- Efficient Care Zone
Patients are seated on the Barrier-Free® exam table throughout the visit, with all care elements in close proximity.
A mobile supply cart provides an additional work surface to organize instruments and supplies. The cart can be positioned to accommodate the preference of the caregiver for easy access.
- Barrier-Free Access
In this barrier-free layout, the center of the room is kept open to allow a 60-in. wheelchair turning area and transfer of the patient to the exam table.
The distance from the door to the corner of the room (18 in.) is needed for patient egress.
The Barrier-Free® exam table is fully accessible, providing greater safety for patients and caregivers.
