New technologies are critical to modern healthcare. This barrier-free and EMR layout integrates electronic medical records for:
- Better caregiver-patient interaction
- Keeping patients informed and engaged
The patient sits adjacent to the computer, then moves to the Barrier-Free® exam table. IT in the exam room also gives real-time access to patient information at the point of care.
- EMR Transition
Incorporating the computer provides a more efficient patient care environment for:
- More direct contact with the patient
- Information retrieval in the exam room
Uninterrupted time with the patient is increased while the overall exam time is decreased.
Enhanced ergonomics provides efficiency and greater safety for patient and caregiver.
- Enhanced Caregiver Ergonomics
Angling the exam table provides three-sided patient access. In addition, the powered exam table allows the caregiver to adjust the table, maintaining eye contact in a seated or standing position without undue back or neck strain.
A more efficient workflow places tools and supplies conveniently and improves caregiver-patient interaction.
- Public/Private Zones
This exam room design provides a public zone with side chairs for family and visitors, as well as a dressing nook for patients.
The patient care zone, or private zone, allows physician access to equipment and supplies. It includes space for the patient interview and a work surface with a computer for instant access to patient data.
- Barrier-Free Access
In this barrier-free layout, the center of the room is kept open to allow a 60-in. wheelchair turning area and transfer of the patient to the exam table.
The distance from the door to the corner of the room (18 in.) is needed for patient egress.
The Barrier-Free® exam table is fully accessible, providing greater safety for patients and caregivers.
