SAFE PATIENT CARE

WORKFLOW C

Overview

Safety and efficiency are the focal points of this safe patient care room. Seating the patient on the Barrier-Free® exam table throughout the visit:

  • Reduces time needed for patient positioning
  • Maximizes efficiency, safe patient care and flexibility

Mobile workstations surrounding the exam table offer added control and flexibility.

Safe Patient Care

The patient is seated on the Barrier-Free® exam table throughout the visit. There are no delays due to transferring the patient from other areas in the patient care room. Digital and physical care interfaces are within the same zone:

  • Minimizes physician movement
  • Maintains constant contact with the patient
Mobile Diagnostics

A mobile diagnostics cart is used during the exam and can be shared between exam rooms to:

  • Reduce equipment cost
  • Provide flexibility

Another mobile cart positions the computer/EMR next to the patient to maintain eye contact at all times and create an adjustable care zone around the patient.

Public/Private Zones

This exam room design provides a public zone with side chairs for family and visitors, as well as a dressing nook for patients.

The patient care zone, or private zone, allows physician access to equipment and supplies. EMR allows the patient to remain on the Barrier-Free® exam table for the interview. A mobile cart offers flexible positioning and instant access to patient data at the point of care.

Barrier-Free Access

In this barrier-free layout, the center of the room is kept open to allow a 60 in. wheelchair turning area and transfer of the patient to the exam table.

The distance from the door to the corner of the room (18 in.) is needed for patient egress.

The Barrier-Free® exam table is fully accessible, providing greater safety for patients and caregivers.
